PR Newswire reported on the accolades given to Landis, illustrating his vital role within the Notre Dame lacrosse program. In early May, he was named the Atlantic Coast Conference 2015 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. Later in the month he was named Epoch and Lacrosse Magazine Player of the week for his outstanding performance against Lyle Thompson of Albany. His efforts in that game lead to a 14-0 victory over the Albany Great Danes. With this, Landis became the first defensive player of the year to receive the magazine’s player of the week award. His determination and effort throughout the 2015 season also earned him the William C. Schmeisser Award for Outstanding Defensive Player of the year. This award is held in very high regard and is awarded to the most dominant defensive player within the NCAA lacrosse system. Along with these honors, Landis was also nominated for the 2015 Tewaaraton Award.

Notre Dame’s phenomenal lacrosse season resulted in seven team members being named All-American; breaking the school’s previous record of six in 2011. Of those seven, Matt Landis was one of three to be named first team. There is no doubt that Landis is an irreplaceable member of the Notre Dame lacrosse program. His dedication to the sport has proven his worth not only to Notre Dame, but all NCAA lacrosse fans.
